Today, Betsy Ings from e-WD, alongside Madelief Broecheler (Netherlands Embassy), Sibusisiwe Nkosi (Irish Embassy), and Asiphe Saul (UN Women) , joined an inspiring event hosted by the Embassies of the Netherlands Kingdom of the Netherlands in South Africa & Ireland Embassy of Ireland, Pretoria, United Nations in South Africa and UN Women SAMCO to commemorate International Women’s Day.

Bringing together two generations of leaders and activists, the event sparked powerful conversations on the journey toward gender equality and women’s empowerment. From a thought-provoking intergenerational panel discussion to a keynote by Dr. Phumzile Mlambo Ngcuka, the day was a celebration of progress, resilience, and the work still ahead.

Meet Khathu Zeldah Mathivha, founder of Mashpolly Agri Business in Tsh*twani, Limpopo. Her 3.5-hectare farm includes a poultry house, cash crops, and an agrodealer shop offering seeds, fertilizers, and tools. Khathu’s vision is to make agricultural inputs easily accessible to local farmers and households, cutting travel costs and empowering her community.

💪🏽 As a proud 100% black woman-owned business since 2018, she believes in Ubuntu and delivering on customer needs. This Heritage Month, Khathu encourages us all to embrace healthy, homegrown food—just like our ancestors did.

Meet Philisiwe Gloria Manqele, a MACWE participant and founder of Eduyaza Guest House (Pty) Ltd, located in Hlabisa Big Five Municipality, Ward 11, KwaZulu Natal.

🏡 A Retired Nurse with a Vision: After retiring as a registered nurse, Philisiwe saw a need for nearby accommodation for hospital visitors and opened Eduyaza Guest House in 2012 with 5 rooms. Today, her guest house has expanded to 13 rooms, offering comfort and convenience to guests, especially those visiting Hlabisa Hospital.

🌟 A True Community Service: Philisiwe’s journey from healthcare to hospitality is an inspiring example of how passion and service to the community can go hand-in-hand.

🍽️ African-Inspired Dining: Lepang Enterprises offers a unique African-inspired dining experience, where indigenous designs from South Africa meet the flavour of traditional foods. Every meal is a celebration of our culture, heritage, and craftsmanship.
