We had a special visitor at the Algoa Bay Whale Festival yesterday! 🐋♻️

It was wonderful to welcome our beautiful boss, Kay Hardy, who stopped by to enjoy the sunny Sunday morning and experience the festival atmosphere with us.

From families exploring environmental exhibits to children learning about recycling through fun activities, the day was a fantastic celebration of nature, conservation, and community.

Kay's passion for environmental education and sustainability has helped shape The Waste Trade Company's journey over the years, and it was great to have her sharing in the day's activities.

Thank you to everyone who joined us at the festival and continues to support initiatives that promote recycling, environmental awareness, and the protection of our natural world.

Together, we can create a cleaner, greener future for generations to come. 🌍💚

A new favourite recycling game has arrived… Mamoru Snap: The Recycling Way! ♻️🐋

Yesterday we were at the Algoa Bay Whale Festival at Willows Resort, sharing the green gospel with families from across Nelson Mandela Bay.

It’s was a fun, relaxed Sunday filled with nature, learning, and environmental awareness. Thank you to Karen and the Raggy Charters team for always reminding us that we are one with nature — and that it is in our hands to protect our oceans so whales can live and roam freely.

Let’s keep learning, recycling, and protecting what matters.

♻️💚 It’s Waste Sorting Day today at Luthando Luvuyo Special School in Zwide! 💚♻️

A big shoutout to Mr Bradley, the recycling champion at Luthando Luvuyo, and his amazing Eco Club, who were looking absolutely adorable in their recycling coats today.

Working together as a team in their waste sorting room, they were busy separating and organising their recyclable items properly ahead of their upcoming collection. It is always inspiring to see learners taking pride in keeping their school environment clean while learning the importance of recycling and teamwork.

Green Fingers to you all for doing the most and making a real difference at your school! 💚

🌱 Some special moments from yesterday’s visit to Fikizolo Primary School Eco Club in Makhanda/Grahamstown.

It was wonderful to spend time with Teacher Zintle and the learners as they begin their recycling journey with energy, curiosity, and a real willingness to learn. ♻️💚

Through school recycling initiatives, young learners gain practical knowledge about sorting, separating, and understanding the value of recyclable materials. These lessons help build long-term habits that benefit their schools, homes, and communities.

A big Green Fingers welcome once again to the Fikizolo Primary School Eco Club. We are excited to see your recycling journey grow!

🌱 Today we had the privilege of being visited by Miss Nomvuzo Hlazo from KwaZakhele.

Miss Nomvuzo is a hardworking single mother who uses recycling as a way to help put food on the table and support her children through school. Her commitment is a powerful reminder that recycling is not only about protecting the environment — it also supports livelihoods and creates opportunities in our communities.

She visited us to learn more about the different types of plastics, especially those that can be difficult to identify and classify for recycling. By gaining a better understanding of these materials, she can recycle more effectively while working out in the field. ♻️

We were also grateful to provide Miss Hlazo with a pair of gumboots to help keep her dry and warm during these cold, rainy winter days.

A heartfelt thank you to The Dairy Group for their generous donation of gumboots, helping us support the waste pickers who play such an important role in keeping recyclable materials moving through the recycling stream.

Thank you, Miss Nomvuzo, for your dedication and hard work. We appreciate you. 💚

Let’s continue supporting the people behind recycling. Every clean, sorted recyclable item makes a difference.

🌱 Super excited for recycling!

We love seeing learners so enthusiastic about taking part in school recycling.

This video shows just how excited the learners are to be part of the WESSA E-WASA Schools Recycling Project and to continue building positive recycling habits at school.

We cannot emphasise enough how important it is to look after the environment, so that we can continue enjoying Mother Nature’s beauty and gifts. 💚💚💚

Well done to everyone involved. Every small action makes a difference.
