Propella Business Incubator Providing support for innovators with disruptive technology which gives manufacturing in the Eastern Cape and the rest of South Africa a competitive edge.

Propella operates as an Incubator (Support of NEWCO’s) as well as an Accelerator (Support of existing companies) as this is critical from a sustainability and income earning perspective. It is also good practice to support companies in various stages of their life cycle as the development support and interaction between the incubatees is as important as the development support received from the In

cubator. Propella will also operate on a physical and virtual basis in order to further extend the development support beyond those companies which are located in Propella.

Propella exhibiting at AAUN 2026

The Propella team attended Day 1 of the 2026 Australia–Africa Universities Network (AAUN) Conference which emphasises the practical application of the theory behind Circular Economies. The theme of the 2026 conference reflects an intentional shift towards more holistic and inclusive models of sustainability.

Over the week, Propella and some of our ventures will be stationed at the Ocean sciences campus, at Nelson Mandela University. Come through to experience some of the work we support and ask any questions.

ECDC - Eastern Cape Development Corporation Stakeholder Engagement | Ecosystem

A shared commitment to collaboration and inclusive economic growth took centre stage at the ECDC Stakeholder Engagement in Gqeberha. The session brought together stakeholders to explore opportunities for stronger partnerships, coordinated action, and greater impact in supporting businesses across the Eastern Cape.

Contributing to the shared engagements, Propella’s Masa Mlamla emphasised the need to address fragmentation within the province’s entrepreneurship ecosystem to improve efficiency and strengthen support for entrepreneurs. This work is further emphesised by the work we are doing through the IYBA SEED Project Ecosystem Weaving Initiative Propella is championing in the Eastern Cape with Eastern Cape Socio Economic Consultative Council convening in the province. An initiative aimed to strengthen ecosystem collaboration and support entrepreneurial growth.

Reflecting on the session, Propella welcomed ECDC’s strategic direction and the opportunity to identify potential collaborations across sectors that can drive meaningful and sustainable impact.

Today marked a significant milestone as we officially onboarded 60 innovators into the ProFuture ICT Programme, aimed at supporting innovators in developing and integrating smart solutions that can grow into sustainable businesses within Nelson Mandela Bay.

Centered on the theme of Smart City Solutions, the onboarding session provided participants with an overview of the programme, its structure, and the exciting journey ahead.

We are excited to work alongside a dynamic cohort of innovators and support them in transforming innovative ideas into impactful solutions that address local challenges and contribute to the development of a smarter, more sustainable Nelson Mandela Bay.

Meet our new ICT Journey Lead, .tobias . With a career spanning both the public and private sectors, Grant brings a wealth of experience in ICT strategy, governance, and operational leadership, and is passionate about leveraging technology to enable seamless business journeys and deliver meaningful organisational impact.

His expertise includes serving as a Manager in IT Governance, Risk, Compliance (GRC), and Security at one of the Big Four audit firms, and as National Operations Manager over the past nine years, leading strategic growth, operational excellence, and impactful enterprise development initiatives after being headhunted by an Enterprise Development non-profit organisation to establish its presence in Nelson Mandela Bay.

In his personal time, Grant enjoys staying active and balanced through walks, occasional hikes, and spending time at the golf course or driving range.

Grant brings a thoughtful, people-centred approach to leadership, combining deep technical expertise with a strong commitment to growth, innovation, and positive impact.
