River Bioscience was founded in 2004 and owns 100% of XSIT, their subsidiary company, which was founded in 2007.

River Bioscience are biotechnology experts, with our roots in South Africa, manufacturing, and commercializing crop protection products and services for local and international citrus and other agricultural markets. XSIT is managed by River Bioscience which is also where they conduct research, development activities and at their own facility in Addo. A very capable team of industry professionals at both works on these important projects at River Bioscience and XSIT. Besides the R&D work conducted by our Group COO, as well as his capable and experienced team also oversee all operations, that includes moth releases, sterile moth production (55 Million Moths/week) as well as other program support operations, such as monitoring activities around the country, over a 19 000ha footprint, that stretches from the Northern Cape Province, around the Western Cape Province as far as the Sundays River Valley in the Eastern Cape Province.

🐝𝗦𝗮𝗺𝗲 𝗼𝗿𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗱. 𝗗𝗶𝗳𝗳𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝘀𝗲𝗮𝘀𝗼𝗻. 𝗢𝗻𝗲 𝗶𝗺𝗽𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗿𝗲𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿.

Apis Bloom™ was applied today in an orchard, and the dollop to the left was applied during the previous flowering season.

After the flowering season, the Apis Bloom dollop remains visible on the branch, demonstrating the durability of its SPLAT® formulation under orchard conditions and its rain fastness.

Apis Bloom uses controlled-release technology to release bee-attractant pheromones over an extended period, helping keep honeybees focused on the flowers you want them to visit.

🌿𝗔 𝗻𝗲𝘄 𝘀𝗲𝗮𝘀𝗼𝗻 𝗶𝘀 𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘄𝗮𝘆, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗦𝗣𝗟𝗔𝗧 𝗙𝗖𝗠 𝗮𝗽𝗽𝗹𝗶𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝗵𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝗼𝗳𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹𝗹𝘆 𝗯𝗲𝗴𝘂𝗻!

Our team kicked off applications on Western Cape blueberry farms, helping growers get ahead of False Codling Moth (FCM) pressure. 🫐

SPLAT FCM uses species-specific pheromones to disrupt mating by making it difficult for male FCM to locate females. Reducing successful mating helps suppress pest populations as part of an integrated FCM management programme.

✅Starting early is key. By putting a strong programme in place before pest pressure builds, growers can take a proactive approach to protecting their crop throughout the season.

At River Bioscience, we believe that sound scientific research is the foundation of effective Integrated Pest Management (IPM).

Congratulations to Emma Thompson on the publication of her Master's research in Entomologia Experimentalis. Her study investigated the compatibility of various agricultural remedies with 𝘛𝘳𝘪𝘤𝘩𝘰𝘨𝘳𝘢𝘮𝘮𝘢𝘵𝘰𝘪𝘥𝘦𝘢 𝘤𝘳𝘺𝘱𝘵𝘰𝘱𝘩𝘭𝘦𝘣𝘪𝘢𝘦, providing valuable insights into integrating this important parasitoid into South African IPM programmes.

Research like this helps ensure that growers can make informed decisions while protecting beneficial insects and strengthening sustainable pest management strategies.
