This morning, our Response Officers were dispatched to a clientโs premises in Sherwood following a report of suspicious activity at the back of the property.
When our Response Officers arrived to investigate, they discovered an illegal electrical cable running underneath the residentโs back wall and along the inside perimeter of the property. The cable had been concealed within the flower beds and dug underground, running all the way to the front wall where it had been connected to the propertyโs external electrical box.
The illegal connection appeared to have been routed through the clientโs property to supply nearby informal structures. In an attempt to conceal the connection, fibre cables had even been placed over the illegal electrical cables.
Our Response Officers removed the illegal connections and secured the affected area.
The matter will now be escalated to the relevant Ward Councillor for further investigation and appropriate action.
This incident highlights the importance of remaining vigilant and reporting suspicious activity or potentially dangerous electrical connections. Illegal electrical connections can pose a serious safety risk to both properties and surrounding communities.
