Horse racing is about so much more than betting. It's about catching up with friends, supporting a proud local industry, enjoying great hospitality, and being part of a tradition that has entertained South Africans for generations.

The Eastern Cape Nomads Golf Club Charity Race Day has been a fixture on our calendar for many years. It's always a fantastic opportunity to thank our customers for their support, spend quality time together away from the office, and enjoy a memorable day at the races.

But at the heart of this event is something far more important.

The day is a fundraiser for the Zanethemba Charity Foundation, and thanks to the incredible support from local businesses and attendees, tens of thousands of rand were raised to help this remarkable organisation continue its work.

Based in Walmer, Gqeberha, Zanethemba provides temporary safe care for abused, abandoned and neglected children from birth to six years old. Its name means "to bring hope" in isiXhosa, and that's exactly what the foundation has been doing since 2008. By providing a safe, loving environment and the care these young children need after experiencing trauma, Zanethemba helps give them the best possible chance of finding a stable, permanent family.

PE Fuel Distributors, Engen Oil Centre PE and Gas Centre are proud to support the Nomads Golf Club Charity Race Day and, in turn, the incredible work of the Zanethemba Charity Foundation.

Global LPG Day isn't just another lame day on the calendar like National Bubble Wrap Appreciation Day (yes, that's apparently a real thing).

Today, 7 June, is Global LPG Day — a day dedicated to raising awareness of one of the world's most versatile, reliable and under-appreciated energy sources.

In South Africa, LPG is still often viewed as something dangerous, or simply a backup plan when the electricity goes out. The reality couldn't be further from the truth.
