Meet Richard, our Foreman! 👋♻️

This year, Richard — or “Richie” as we know him — celebrates 10 years with Bretcor Recycling! 🎉

Over the years, he has grown through the ranks and taken on many different responsibilities. His positive attitude and flexibility make him a valuable part of our team.

Richie can operate our machinery, regularly joins our out-of-town collections, handles our second-hand bucket sales, and has recently taken on his new role as Foreman.

Thank you for your hard work and commitment, Richie. We appreciate having you on the team! Here’s to the next 10 years! 💪♻️

♻️ NOT SURE WHAT TYPE OF PLASTIC YOU HAVE?

Identifying plastics can be tricky! 🤔 The easiest way to check is to look for the recycling symbol — it can tell you what type of plastic it is.

No symbol? No worries!
📸 Send us a picture and we can often identify it for you.

Meet Alih & Arafani! 👋♻️

With 7 and 9 years at Bretcor Recycling, these two have gained plenty of experience across different roles in our business.
Today, they work mainly on-site at one of our major clients, helping to recycle plastic directly where it is generated. When they’re back at our premises, their extra pair of hands always comes in handy! 💪

Both can operate all our machinery, and Alih is also an experienced forklift driver. Keep up the good work, guys! 👏

🛢️ HDPE DRUMS WANTED! ♻️

Do you have HDPE drums lying around? We buy them for recycling!
Whether it’s the common 20L and 25L drums, smaller 12.5L drums, or the big 210L drums, we’re interested.

If they are still in good condition, we aim to give them a second life as-is. If they are damaged or broken, we process them into raw material for recycling.

There is just one important requirement: the old contents must be removed. A small amount of staining or residue is fine, but we cannot accept drums with large amounts of liquid still inside.

Back in business! ♻️💪

We hope you enjoyed the long weekend just as much as we did!

So far this year, we’ve recycled around 900 tonnes of rigid plastics — material that has been collected, sorted, stripped and processed, and has been reintroduced into the South African manufacturing industry as recycled raw material.

That means less plastic ending up in landfill, while also reducing the need for new virgin material to be produced. 🌍♻️

And now we’re ready for the final 3 months of the year! Our team, vehicles and factory are prepared, and we’re ready for more.

Our team braai last Friday was a great success. 🍖

It was a chance for everyone to relax, enjoy some good food and reflect on what has been a very busy couple of months.

But mainly, it was a much needed get-together to remember our late foreman, Leftie, who sadly and unexpectedly passed away a few weeks ago.

His passing had a deep impact on the whole team. We took some time to share our favourite stories and memories of Leftie, and to reflect on the contribution he made to Bretcor over nearly 15 years.

He was an important part of our team and will be deeply missed.

Rest in peace, Leftie.💚

Sometimes it's not whether plastic can be recycled. It's whether it gets collected in the first place.

South Africa has recycling facilities and markets for many plastic materials, but sorting is key. Recyclable plastic that ends up mixed with general waste or other materials can be much harder to recover.

👉 Separation at source really does make a difference. To do so, it is essential to have the right knowledge.
