Did you know? From 2027, retailers around the world are expected to be able to scan 2D barcodes (like QR and DataMatrix codes) at the till, not just the classic 1D barcode we've all grown up with. It's called GS1's Sunrise 2027.

Why the switch? A 2D code can carry far more than a price lookup, batch number, expiry date, serial number — all scannable in the same space a 1D barcode takes up today. That's a big deal for recall management, stock rotation and food safety.
