Accused number one, Charlotte Tibana, has asked the Polokwane Magistrate’s Court to grant her bail, arguing that her continued detention could have serious consequences for her legal practice.

During closing arguments in her bail application, Tibana’s legal representative, Advocate Maluleke, submitted that releasing her would allow her to resume her attorney-related work and continue assisting her clients.

Maluleke argued that keeping Tibana in custody could result in her law firm collapsing, as she would be unable to attend to its operations and the needs of her clients.

He further told the court that Tibana was prepared to comply with the court’s conditions and would avail herself whenever required should she be released on bail.

Suspended EMPD Deputy Chief Julius Mkhwanazi is expected to apply for bail in the Brakpan Magistrate’s Court today.

This is connection with the alleged 2022 murder of businessman Emmanuel Mbense and defeating the ends of justice.

There are six accused in this case, including former and current law enforcement officers, who are facing charges linked to the murder of Mbense.

Four of the six have already formally presented their applications.

Today, it is Julius Mkhwanazi’s turn.

The State alleges that Mkhwanazi came up with a plan to dump Mbense’s body in a dam to conceal the crime, after the Brakpan businessman was allegedly murdered.

Botswana 🇧🇼 Death Sentence

Convicted killer, Kitso Makati will hang by his neck until he dies after being sentenced to death by Francistown High Court earlier today.

The 35-year-old was handed the ultimate penalty for shooting down Korean national, Ja Chul Koo in a late night armed robbery in Palapye back on 30 October 2016.

He is now the 23rd prisoner condemned to death row.
