On 16 June 1976, young South Africans stood up for their right to fair education and a better future. Now, we celebrate this day as a public holiday.
Their courage became part of South Africa’s history, and Youth Day remains a reminder of the power young people have to question, lead, and create change.
Today, the youth of South Africa continue to shape the country through their ideas, ambition, skills, and determination.
Their future matters, because South Africa’s future depends on it.
