The History of B-BBEE.

Apartheid had its origins in our colonial past. It was only in 1948 when the National Party came to power, that a political policy of racial segregation and discrimination was set out in a multitude of legislation. Race determined the position of an individual and their political advantages or disadvantages.

In 1994, South Africa elected the first democratic government which launched B-BBEE in 2003 as an ethnicity selective programme to empower previously disadvantaged groups, with the goal of amplifying the economy.

The South African government promulgated the B-BBEE Act 53 of 2003 (B-BBEE Act) in an attempt to address the injustices suffered by black South African citizens as a result of the apartheid policies.

Employment Equity Reporting Season – Opens 1 September 2024.

Employment Equity Reporting Season is upon us. Employment Equity reports are due by every designated employer, and therefore any employer with more than 50 employees, or any employer who exceeds the annual turnover threshold is legally obligated to submit their Employment Equity Reports to the Department of Labour on an annual basis.

Failure to comply with this, may result in a fine to the value of R1 500 000. Let Adson Consulting help you comply with this part of the Employment Equity Act, as well as your Employment Equity Plans / Analysis and all other requirements pertaining to Employment Equity.
