VETERINARY TECHNOLOGIST POSITION AT GAUTENG LABORATORY
A position is available for a qualified and registered veterinary technologist.
The candidate’s duties will include:
The daily receipt of samples, logging in of samples on LIMS, the monitoring and charging of microbiology samples that are received, the processing of daily samples to be sent to other facilities as well as following up regarding the results for those samples.
The daily compiling and emailing a dispatch sheet for samples sent to other branches.
The daily downloading and printing microbiology worksheets for all microbiology samples received.
Dealing with and liaising with queries from vets/clients regarding samples including results.
Processing consumable orders for vets located in Gauteng or nearby provinces as well as updating charge sheets.
Assist walk - in clients with regards to sample receipt and completion of sample submission forms.
Culturing samples and preparing smears, antibiograms, biochemical tests of bacteria and fungi that are isolated.
Must be willing to share Saturday duties in rotation with the other laboratory technicians. Excecution of Quality Management duties according to the requirements of ISO17025.
Any other reasonable duties may be allocated by management.
Must be proficient in Excel, Microsoft Word and similar. Additional knowledge of other departments such bacteriology, mycology, parasitology, and preparation and staining of cytology specimens are required. Knowledge of the ISO17025 Laboratory Quality Management System.
Qualification requirement: a National Diploma in Veterinary Technology and/or Bachelor’s Degree in Veterinary Technology and/or Bachelor of Health Science in Veterinary Technology.
The salary is negotiable depending on work experience and suitability for the position.
