Makeshift plans are seldom the right plan.
While on the topic of cleaning your gas cooker, do not clean it with aggressive chemicals but rather use warm water with soap. Do not overdo the water so it runs into the Burner Channels. Do NOT try to clean the Burner Channels with something like a "toothpick". If this breaks off while trying there will be problems of another sort.
Use the correct tools for the job.
