Doing the Impossible
“The greatest pleasure in life is doing what people say you cannot do.” - Walter Bagehot
What a great pleasure indeed!!
Have you had the “privilege” of someone telling you what you cannot do and then proving to him, but very importantly to yourself, that you can in fact do it?
We will all do well to listen carefully and discern next time someone tells you something is impossible. Rather than reacting on such a comment in a negative manner, rather see it as a wonderful platform to stretch your capabilities and sail in uncharted waters. It is of great importance how we react and what our “real” motivation is.
In some cases where the challenges that is laid before us, are of extreme difficulty, just to prove something to someone, might not be proof enough to get us over the line. We might rather find that during these “near impossible” quests in life, the best motivation is proving to ourselves that we can indeed get the impossible done. This is a far better motivator.
“You cannot do …” should become a phrase that unlocks the deep potential that lies buried in us as individuals and once we “do” the impossible we will find what we have done and achieved is of such significance that although we can take pleasure in the fact that we proved someone wrong, this fact is almost of no significance in the bigger scheme of life!
