Since 1999, as CEO of Syringa Bioscience (Pty) Ltd, John Morris developed an integrated R&D Pilot Plant with four factories and two laboratories where together with young biotechnology students initiate research projects that add value to alien weeds and invasive plants, by using mostly unconventional technologies and methods. In South Africa there are over 8000 spec

ies of alien plants among over 25 000 species of local flora. 381 species of aliens were declared invasive and taken under supervision, control and eradication by the Working for Water Programme - WFW, an inter-departmental program under DWAF umbrella [ www.invasive.species.sanbi.org ]. We try to build a real bridge between the Academia and Economy for control of Alien Weeds and Invasive Plants through modern technologies. Since the passing of the founder and CEO Dr J Morris the company is now 100% black owned by a young motivated , career driven and ambitious lady Esther Nduli who started as a cleaner and surely since hard work pays, she ended as the director and a shareholder of the institute.
