Our LED is not a gimmick. It’s used to accelerate the bleaching process and activate the gel.
The bleaching gel does not need to be activated to work, we simply mean activate, like “energize”, as in fuel it to work faster and achieve results in a shorter space of time.
It’s essential to have the correct energy levels without too much heat to energize and accelerate the bleaching process in order to achieve results of up to 8 shades in just 45 minutes of active bleaching time.
UV lights and most lasers create too much heat. The temperature heats up the gel which in turn heats up the tooth and the nerve and can cause serious problems. The whole idea of using a light to speed up the process means that it needs to be doing it’s job for the entire 15 minutes and not just a portion of that time. The gel takes up to 15 minutes to pe*****te through to the pulp (where the nerve is) so it needs to be in front of the teeth the entire time.
Over the counter battery operated LED’s don’t do the same job nor would they give you the same results. Philips is a world leading lighting and medical technology company amongst other things, so if you’re thinking of upping your bleaching game and offering the best to your patients, look no further than the Philips Zoom Whitespeed. With wavelengths of 480-520 nanometers and light intensities ranging from 50-190 mW/cm2, its easy to get the results you want and be in control of the output at the same time.
