INCIDENT SUMMARY
On the morning of 16 June 2026, the CSI CCTV Monitoring Centre received an alert from one of the intelligence-driven camera poles deployed within the Menlo Close area. The alert was generated after the system identified a suspicious individual walking repeatedly along the perimeter fence lines of several residential properties.
The dedicated CCTV operator immediately initiated active monitoring of the suspect and observed behaviour consistent with possible reconnaissance activities often associated with attempted residential break-ins. The suspect continued moving between properties while closely inspecting boundary walls and fence lines.
Based on the real-time intelligence received, CSI Armed Response and Special Operations Units were immediately dispatched to the area. Throughout the deployment, the CCTV operator maintained continuous visual surveillance of the suspect and provided live updates to responding units, allowing for accurate tracking of the individual's movements.
Using the information relayed from the CCTV Monitoring Centre, responding officers were able to rapidly pinpoint the suspect's location. The coordinated response resulted in the suspect being successfully intercepted and detained before he could flee the area.
Following the detention, members conducted a preliminary search and identified several suspicious items in the suspect's possession. Brooklyn SAPS was immediately contacted and responded to the scene. During further investigation, various items were found on the suspect, including medallions and a card payment machine, which are suspected to be stolen property.
The suspect, together with all recovered items, was subsequently handed over to Brooklyn SAPS for further investigation and processing.
The origin of the recovered property is currently being investigated by SAPS.
