31 May 2022 is the deadline for employers to submit:

1. W.As8 COIDA Return of Earnings

-Employer's declaration of statement reflecting the total amount of earnings (up to the maximum) paid by the employer to its employees

2. SARS Annual Tax Reconciliations

-EMP501 declaration made by the employer covering full tax year from 01 March 2021 - 28 Feb 2022. This is to provide employees with IRP5 statement for the submission of their Annual Income Tax filing.

With the rise of positive cases emanating from the new strain of Covid-19 virus termed 502.V2 Variant which is spreading rapidly. This brings a huge amount of fear and anxiety amongst workers for contracting the virus.

We have asked the founder to give us her insight and opinion of what employers should do before employees returns to work after the holidays and this is what she had to share:

"Now more than ever, Employers must re-assure their employees of their health and safety at work and provide them with the necessary support they need to effectively deal with the pandemic

Health and Safety Reps and Compliance Officers must conduct Health and Safety re-fresher training to ensure all employees aligns and are yet familiar with the health and safety rules and measures put in place in their workplaces for adherence and impose some form of discipline for contractravening with such rules

Employees bear the responsibility as well to ensure that they keep themselves safe beyond the employer's premises and adhere to the covid legislative rules as well as ensuring that they inform their employers of any covid-related symptoms and illness to minimise transmissions between co-workers"
