DOOD HET NIE DIE LAASTE Sê NIE

Hierdie week het ek van twee gevalle van selfdood gehoor wat my diep ontstel het. Dit het my opnuut bewus gemaak van hoe broos die lewe is en hoeveel pyn soms agter ’n bekende glimlag versteek kan wees.

Die dood is deel van ons menslike bestaan, maar dit het nie die laaste sê nie. Selfs in ons donkerste oomblikke bly daar hoop, hulp en mense wat bereid is om saam met ons deur die storm te stap.

As die lewe vir jou te swaar geword het, moet asseblief nie alleen bly nie. Praat met iemand. Om hulp te vra is nie swakheid nie—dit is ’n moedige tree na die lig.

NARRATIVE (COMMUNITY-BASED) HOLISTIC CARE
Purpose of the Course:
Pastors and other ministry leaders serve in a world filled with pain, trauma, and personal challenges. This course equips leaders with practical skills to care for and support burdened people in a professional and Christian way.

Who May Attend?
Ministry leaders who have not matriculated, or who have matriculated but do not hold a degree or advanced diploma in theology.

Dates: 30 September – 2 October 2026
Venue: Hybrid (Online) at Doxa Deo Moot, Môregloed, Pretoria

Trauma doesn’t always end when the difficult or threatening experience is over.

After an overwhelming experience, your mind and body may continue to respond as though danger is still present. You may feel constantly alert, become easily startled, struggle to sleep, feel emotionally numb, withdraw from others, become irritated more quickly, or find it difficult to concentrate.

Sometimes a sound, smell, place, conversation or situation can trigger a reaction before you even understand why.

These responses can be part of the way your nervous system has learned to protect you. Recovery can involve helping your mind and body recognise the difference between what happened then and what is happening now.

With the right support, you can begin to understand your triggers, rebuild a sense of safety and develop healthier ways of responding when life feels overwhelming.
Trauma may explain some of your responses, but it does not have to determine how you live your life going forward.
