This year’s theme for the International Day for Biodiversity, “Acting Locally for Global Impact,” reminds us that meaningful environmental change begins with the actions we take within our own communities, industries, and ecosystems.

Biodiversity is more than just the variety of life on Earth. It is the foundation of healthy ecosystems, clean water, food security, and sustainable development.

In South Africa, our rich biodiversity is one of our greatest environmental assets, yet it continues to face increasing pressure from habitat loss, pollution, invasive species, and unsustainable development practices.

Protecting biodiversity today means creating a more sustainable and resilient future for generations to come.

Happy International day for Biodiversity!

Out in the field...

This video from our visit to the Eastern Cape captures just a glimpse of the environments we’re privileged to work in. Diverse, dynamic, and worth protecting.

It’s in these spaces that environmental responsibility becomes more than just a concept but it becomes action.

As we step into May, our team is ready for what the new month brings; new sites, new challenges, and new opportunities to make a meaningful impact.

If you’re looking for environmental support on your existing or upcoming projects, we’d be glad to connect.

There’s something truly special about taking the “office” out into the field.

This week, our office for the day was in Mpumalanga, where we conducted Specialist Assessments and surveyed the area in support of a Water-use License Application.

One of the greatest perks of what we do is the opportunity to travel across our beautiful country, reaching remote and remarkable places we might never have experienced otherwise.

If you require assistance with Specialist Assessments or Water-use License Applications, feel free to reach out!

We had a busy start to the year and this video is a summary of the team’s site visits that took us from the dry and hot Kalahari to a very wet Natal Province and the urban sprawl of Gauteng.

The Crocodile River (East)

The team was in Mpumalanga recently and took some breathtaking photos of the Crocodile River.

The river spans a sturdy catchment area of approximately 10,446 km², supporting diverse ecosystems and communities.

Flowing from the Drakensberg heights down to the Komati confluence, the Crocodile River is far more than just a water body - it's the agricultural heart, ecological backbone, and cultural treasure of Mpumalanga.

Another day in the field which is another day to contribute to sustainable development.

The team was conducting a Wetland Survey for a proposed new township development.

Our team was on-site conducting fieldwork as part of the Environmental Impact Assessment for a proposed solar energy development.

This crucial phase involves various aspects from specialist assessments to stakeholder engagement to ensure the project aligns with environmental standards and sustainability goals.

As the world accelerates toward cleaner energy solutions, it's essential that we develop responsibly by balancing innovation with environmental stewardship.
