[SUMSA26 – A WEEKEND OF CONNECTION, COLLABORATION, AND CLINICAL INSIGHT]

This past weekend, Hitech Lasers, with Schwind eye-tech-solutions GmbH, had the privilege of hosting the inaugural SCHWIND Users Meeting South Africa (SUMSA26) in the beautiful surroundings of the Cradle of Humankind.

Bringing together SCHWIND leaders, South African SCHWIND users and leading international faculty, SUMSA26 was built on a simple but important belief: meaningful progress happens when people come together to share knowledge, experiences, and ideas.

The quality of the programme was exceptional. International speakers shared global perspectives on refractive surgery, personalised treatment planning, corneal therapeutics, and emerging technologies, while South African surgeons contributed valuable real-world clinical insights from their own practices and patient experiences.

What made SUMSA26 truly special was the spirit of engagement throughout the weekend. Discussions extended beyond the lecture hall, creating opportunities for open dialogue, peer learning, and stronger professional relationships across the South African refractive surgery community.

As hosts, we were encouraged by the enthusiasm, participation, and commitment shown by every delegate. It reinforced the importance of creating dedicated platforms where clinicians can learn from one another and collectively advance the field of laser vision correction.

Our sincere thanks to SCHWIND eye-tech-solutions, our faculty, delegates, and the entire Hitech Lasers team for helping make this inaugural meeting such a success.

This was just the beginning.
