Early in my career, I thought candidates weren’t strong enough.
Then I started seeing the pattern.

Your resume wasn't rejected by a recruiter. It was never seen by one.

Here's what actually happened when you hit submit:

Your application entered an Applicant Tracking System — a database, not a decision-maker.

That system parsed your resume into structured data:

- Job titles
- Skills
- Dates
- Companies

Then a recruiter ran a search.

Something like: "Operations Manager" AND "Project Delivery" AND "5+ years"

If your resume didn't contain those exact terms — not similar ones, not implied ones — you didn't appear in their results.

No rejection email. No feedback. Just silence.

This is why qualified professionals with 8, 10, 15 years of experience apply to roles they're perfect for and hear nothing back.

It's not your experience that's the problem. It's how your experience is indexed.

Something I’ve noticed after reviewing a lot of resumes recently:

Many capable professionals are accidentally positioning themselves at a lower level than they actually operate.

Not because of their experience.
Because of how their CV communicates it.

Small things quietly change how someone is perceived:
• summaries that say very little
• bullet points that list tasks instead of outcomes
• experience that doesn’t clearly match the role being targeted
• structure that makes someone appear more junior than they are

Recruiters often decide within seconds whether to keep reading.
When the positioning changes, the perception changes.
