From 1 February 2026, the Motor Industry Bargaining Council (MIBCO) is introducing a mandatory medical health insurance scheme for Sector 5 employees (fuel dealers, service stations and related workplaces).
"How does this apply to me?", you might be wondering:
• A medical insurance deduction will appear on your payslip
• Your employer will also contribute
• You’ll have access to GP care, medication, emergency services, dental & eye care, and hospital accident cover
• The scheme applies automatically unless you opt out within 60 days
No contributions = no cover, which is why payroll accuracy matters.
This is an industry requirement introduced by MIBCO.
