Operation CORONA: R38.3 million in goods seized in Limpopo:

The SANDF and partner departments have confiscated more than R38.3-million worth of counterfeit clothing and cosmetics, along with illicit ci******es, stolen vehicles and an endangered pangolin during operations in Limpopo.

In Musina, the SANDF, Home Affairs and SARS seized counterfeit goods valued at R38.36 million, with several shop owners fined or arrested.

Soldiers also seized:

A Toyota Hilux worth R250,000 allegedly used to transport R144,727 worth of illicit ci******es.

A Toyota Cross valued at R575,000 that suspects allegedly tried to smuggle into a neighbouring country.

The vehicle was driven into a river when the suspects realised they were being pursued.

An endangered pangolin, allegedly being smuggled from South Africa into Botswana by an undocumented Botswana national.

The operations form part of Operation CORONA, targeting cross-border crime and other forms of lawlessness in Limpopo.

Johannesburg Flying Squad members arrested a 32-year-old man in Bassonia on Tuesday after an intelligence-driven operation. Police recovered two ri**es -a .308 and a .22, along with 5,000 rounds of am******on of various calibres.

The suspect faces charges for possession of unlicensed fi****ms and am******on and is expected to appear in court soon.

The South African Police Service (SAPS) in Milnerton, Western Cape seeks public assistance in tracing a wanted suspect, 43-year-old Andrew Chickendary. A J165 was issued on 08 July 2020 at Cape Town Magistrate's Court for the suspect to be arrested and brought before court on a charge of murder.

Anyone with information on the suspect's whereabouts is urged to contact the Investigating Officer, Colonel DJ Mapapu at 021 528 3003 or 021 467 8299.

Malawian National Sought After R1 Million Jewellery Theft: Durban - KZN

A Malawian national is being sought after jewellery valued at approximately R1 million and cash were allegedly stolen from a residence in Durban - KZN today (Sunday, 12 July 2026).

According to the employer, the suspect has been identified as Fatima Lawerence, who is also believed to use the name Esther as reflected on her passport. She is 28 years old and is travelling with her five (5) year-old daughter.

The stolen property consists mainly of old gold jewellery, including several Kruger coins. The collection, valued at approximately R1 million, has significant sentimental value as it has been passed down through generations. An additional R10,000 in cash was also reported stolen.

The employer advised that Lawerence had been working as a domestic worker for approximately seven (7) years. It is believed that she may be attempting to flee to Malawi. The family uncovered the theft after returning home at approximately 17:30.

Anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of Lawerence is requested to contact Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) immediately on 086 1234 333.

Dutch National Arrested at OR Tambo Airport with R240,000 Khat Haul

South African Police Service (SAPS) officers have arrested a Dutch national at OR Tambo International Airport in an intelligence-led operation, seizing more than 40 kilograms of the stimulant drug khat with an estimated street value of R240,000.

The suspect was intercepted while preparing to board a flight to Frankfurt, Germany. Police discovered the khat concealed inside his luggage.

The arrest is the latest in SAPS's ongoing crackdown on transnational drug trafficking at the country's busiest airport. According to police, more than 50 drug mules have been intercepted and arrested at OR Tambo over the past two years.

The suspect is expected to appear in the Kempton Park Magistrates' Court on Monday, 25 May 2026, on charges relating to drug trafficking.

The Johannesburg Metropolitan Police Department arrested two suspects in Sandton after officers intercepted a grey Haval fitted with unauthorised blue lights at the corner of Rivonia Road and Grayston Drive during routine patrols.

The male driver claimed he was the official driver of the Mayor of Nala Municipality and said he was transporting the mayor.

The female passenger supported the story and falsely identified herself as the mayor.

Police became suspicious after checks revealed the vehicle was not state-owned, but registered to a bank.

Further investigation found the woman had allegedly impersonated the mayor, while the driver was allegedly under the influence of alcohol and unlawfully using blue light equipment.

The driver was charged with impersonating a police official, drunk driving, and illegal use of blue lights.

The female passenger was charged with impersonation.

Both were detained at Sandton SAPS and are expected to appear in court soon.

While on patrol in the Honeydew area TRU officers noticed a suspicious vehicle parked along Tailor Road in Honeydew with a male occupant inside. The officers approached the vehicle & searched the male & his vehicle. During the search, 2x small clear zip-lock sachets containing suspected cat drugs were found in his pockets.

Upon further investigation, the suspect led officers to his residence in Cosmo City where additional substances were discovered. Inside the premises, officers found a bottle & a small bucket containing illegal substances believed to be cat & crystal m**h drugs.
The suspect was arrested for possession of illegal substances & detained at Honeydew SAPS.

Lawlessness will not be tolerated!
