Operation CORONA: R38.3 million in goods seized in Limpopo:
The SANDF and partner departments have confiscated more than R38.3-million worth of counterfeit clothing and cosmetics, along with illicit ci******es, stolen vehicles and an endangered pangolin during operations in Limpopo.
In Musina, the SANDF, Home Affairs and SARS seized counterfeit goods valued at R38.36 million, with several shop owners fined or arrested.
Soldiers also seized:
A Toyota Hilux worth R250,000 allegedly used to transport R144,727 worth of illicit ci******es.
A Toyota Cross valued at R575,000 that suspects allegedly tried to smuggle into a neighbouring country.
The vehicle was driven into a river when the suspects realised they were being pursued.
An endangered pangolin, allegedly being smuggled from South Africa into Botswana by an undocumented Botswana national.
The operations form part of Operation CORONA, targeting cross-border crime and other forms of lawlessness in Limpopo.
