Bringing ‘Cents’ to Company-Wide Alignment on Core Skills:
An Industry Revolution, or Another Failed Attempt at Change (Puns Intended)
OBS-Consulting boasts some of the world's most extraordinary talents within our teams. However, to sidestep our own responsibility in answering this question would be a fatal flaw. It would only keep us on the same path of the past. As I delved deeper into the issue, I realized that there are always two sides to any coin, and they work best when placed side by side, supporting each other, rather than one dominating the other and leaving the other side in the shadows.
If we want to align with our mission statement of " At OBS-Consulting, our mission is to lead the way in fostering the fusion of cutting-edge technology and essential soft skills, transforming individuals and businesses alike." we needed a fresh perspective, something lasting—a legacy.
The two critical pieces for our answer, and alignment to the new strategy:
· A Singular IT Professional: A person with all the skills, both soft and technical, rolled into a singular IT professional is a rarity if not an impossibility.
· The Power of a Team: A unit of people, working together cohesively, is far more likely to possess, if not all, a vast majority of the skills required for success.
As a business that places family first, and excellence for our clients at the core, our strategy must evolve.
Step one of this evolution is aligning all the soft and technical skills within our greater team into a formidable force. This entity should be capable of serving each other and our client base as a newly invigorated company. While I believe our individual team members are far superior to any other company's staff base (a somewhat selfish thought that drives me to match their excellence), I must also identify our shortcomings and establish the necessary support systems, foster collaborations, and provide guided mentorships.
Ultimately, our goal is to grow these newfound 'cents,' translated into putting family first and delivering Rand value improvements directly into the pockets of our clients. We envision a company that serves the client and serves the family, and this time, it’s in reverse.
Our journey of rejuvenation has begun, and it’s not just about changing ourselves; it’s about revolutionizing the industry. The 'cents' we aim to bring is not just a play on words—it's our commitment to making sense of our skills, values, and mission to create a brighter future for all, by maintaining financial responsibility for sustainability.
