For us, growth has never just been about expanding operations; it has always been about opening doors.
In the mid-1980s, as RBM grew its resource base and production capacity, we also created space for local entrepreneurs through the Small Business Advice Centre. It was a time of shared progress and partnership that extended beyond our operations.
We are proud of these moments and the people who helped shape them.
Join us each week as we continue to reflect on our 50-year journey.

1976 was a defining year for South Africa.
It was the year young people took a stand and changed the course of our nation's history. It was also the year RBM was established.
As we mark 50 years since those pivotal moments, we honour the courage and conviction of the youth of 1976 whose legacy continues to inspire generations.
This Youth Day theme, RESET@50 – The Future Calls, challenges us to look ahead and invest in the leaders, innovators and changemakers of tomorrow. At RBM, we are answering that call by creating opportunities for young people to learn, grow and build meaningful careers through bursaries, learnerships, internships and mentorship programmes.
Just as the youth of yesteryear shaped the South Africa we know today, the young people of today will shape the South Africa of tomorrow.
Happy Youth Day.

The 1980s were a special chapter in RBM’s story, defined by bold dreams and remarkable progress.
From the Tisand Expansion Project to becoming the world’s largest mineral sands producer in 1983, these milestones were achieved together, driven by a shared purpose.
Most importantly, they were made possible by the people behind them and the belief in what we were building.
Looking back, we remember more than progress. We remember the stories, the dedication and the shared journey that brought us here.
Follow us each week as we revisit five decades of RBM and celebrate the people and moments that shaped our legacy
