The RBIDZ Special Economic Zone is proud to have participated as a partner at the 11th Green Youth Indaba held from 18–19 June 2026 at Sun City, North West Province.

The Indaba provided a valuable platform to engage young people on opportunities within the green economy, while highlighting RBIDZ’s role in driving green industrialisation, investment attraction, skills development, and youth employment.

Through our exhibition and stakeholder engagements, we showcased opportunities in STEM-related bursaries, internships, and entrepreneurship support programmes that empower young people to participate meaningfully in sustainable economic growth.

Together, we are building the skills, innovation, and enterprises needed to power South Africa’s green industrial future.

RBIDZ Solar Panel Training Initiative supports SMME and Youth skills development

This Youth Month, the spotlight is on young people as key drivers of South Africa's future.

Through the RBIDZ Special Economic Zone Solar Panel Training Initiative, youth and SMMEs are equipped with practical knowledge and technical skills that can unlock employment opportunities, support entrepreneurship, and promote self-sustenance.

Aligned with the RBIDZ's focus on growing the renewable energy sector, the initiative contributes to building a skilled local workforce while preparing communities to benefit from opportunities emerging in the green economy.

As we commemorate Youth Month under the theme “RESET@50 – The Future Calls,” we celebrate young people who are embracing innovation, developing future-fit skills and helping to power a more sustainable South Africa.

Today, the RBIDZ participated in the Youth Commemoration Day held at the Durban University of Technology.

Hosted by KwaZulu-Natal Provincial Government , the engagement brought together various stakeholders, including industry, departments and entities to share the opportunities available for the youth and community, that they can tap into.

Delivering his address, Hon. Premier- Mr. Thami Ntuli emphasized the importance of entrepreneurship and encouraged young people to create businesses that can contribute to job creation. Ntuli highlighted the urgent need to address South Africa's high unemployment rate by fostering innovation, supporting small enterprises, and empowering youth to become job creators rather than job seekers.

RBIDZ was proud to participate in this important initiative and to showcase the opportunities and support available through its programmes. The event reinforced the collective commitment of stakeholders to empowering young people and driving sustainable economic growth in the province.

RBIDZ Commemorates Youth Day 2026 | RESET @ 50 – The Future Calls

As South Africa commemorates Youth Day, we honour the courage and determination of the young people who continue to shape our nation's future.

This year's theme, "RESET @ 50 – The Future Calls," encourages reflection on the progress made over the past 50 years since the 1976 youth uprising, while inspiring a renewed commitment to creating opportunities for the next generation.

For the RBIDZ Special Economic Zone , the theme resonates through our ongoing efforts to support youth development, skills enhancement, entrepreneurship and economic participation. Through strategic investments, training initiatives, internships and enterprise development programmes, we are helping to equip young people with the tools needed to thrive in an evolving economy.

As we look ahead, we remain committed to empowering youth to seize opportunities, drive innovation and contribute meaningfully to a prosperous future.
