BESTER is a limited range of elegantly crafted Swartland wines developed by Zakkie Bester, a well-known wine personality who, as proud Swartlander, can trace his roots back to his ancestor Andreas Bester who settled in Malmesbury in the 1700s.

These days Zakkie and his wife Sandra live in Riebeek Kasteel, with outposts in Cape Town and Malmesbury, where their children design roads and bridges, d

ictate fashion trends and fix people's spelling mistakes respectively. The clan has also acquired two strapping sons-in-law and the first member of the next generation joined the party with great fanfare in 2015.

BESTER wines are made for uncomplicated enjoyment.

Meet the BESTERS! Next up, 🍷📚✍️

This is the Bester responsible for most of the words you read around here.

By day, Anna-Bet is a copywriter, author, and speaker who spends her time helping brands tell better stories. Around BESTER Family Wines, she serves as the family's unofficial storyteller, helping share the people, places, recipes, history, and occasional nonsense that make this little wine label what it is.

She's married to Jacques, a location manager and film scout who spends his days discovering beautiful corners of South Africa, and together they're raising Alexandra and Valkie in Malmesbury, just down the road from the rest of the family in Riebeek Kasteel.

When she's not writing, you'll usually find her reading, working on her next creative project, travelling somewhere interesting, or standing around a braai with a notebook nearby because inspiration has a habit of arriving at inconvenient times.

She's passionate about stories, fascinated by people, and firmly believes that some of life's best conversations happen around a table with good food and a bottle of wine.

This winter we’re fully committing to Italian Nonna Maxxing 🍷🤌
