Farewell Dolly Parton — My Birthday Twin

We shared a birthday — January 19. On the very day Dolly celebrated her 30th birthday, I was born in Zimbabwe. Though we never met, her music became part of my journey, shaping my songwriting and teaching me that simplicity and sincerity can make a song timeless.

Her melodies travelled farther than geography, crossing borders and generations. Even here in Zimbabwe, her artistry found a place in my heart and influenced songs like When The Fresh Summer Roses Bloom.
