COMMISSIONING ISN’T THE END OF THE JOURNEY.

Commissioning helps verify that an HVAC system is performing as intended when it is handed over.

But over time, operating conditions change and HVAC systems change with them.

Filters load. Sensors drift. Heat exchangers become fouled. Controls are adjusted. Building demands evolve.

Over time, even a well-commissioned system can move away from its original performance.

That’s why protecting design intent doesn’t stop at commissioning.

Performance needs to be maintained throughout the life of the system.

COMMISSIONING IS WHERE DESIGN INTENT MEETS REALITY.

A completed HVAC installation isn't necessarily a completed HVAC system.

Before a system can be considered to be performing as intended, its operation needs to be tested and verified.

Are the airflows correct?
Are the controls responding as designed?
Are the sensors accurate?
Are the system sequences functioning correctly?

Commissioning helps answer these questions and helps verify that what was designed is what was actually delivered.

This is one of the key stages in protecting design intent and maintaining the energy-efficiency objectives established at the beginning of a project.

The system is installed. But is the design intent still intact?

An HVAC project reaching completion doesn't automatically mean the system is performing as originally intended. The real test is whether the finished installation delivers what the design set out to achieve.

Efficiency can be lost long before the system is switched on.

A carefully designed HVAC system doesn't automatically become an efficient HVAC system.

Between the drawing board and operation, there are countless decisions that can influence performance.

Equipment substitutions.
Installation quality.
Ductwork and insulation.
Controls and sensors.
Coordination on site.

Individually, these decisions may seem minor.

Collectively, they can determine whether the finished system performs as intended.

Design creates the opportunity for efficiency.
Delivery determines whether that opportunity is protected.
