The Institute of Family Mediators is a multi-professional organisation consisting of internationally trained mediators, psychologists, counsellors, lawyers, social workers and care workers who are suitably qualified in terms of the Children’s Act, 2005. We are an institution proactively focussed on the emotional well-being, enablement and support of members of the community who are faced with the
negative consequences of divorce and other family conflict situations. We set out to train, discuss and inform parents and professionals on the legal, emotional, developmental and practical aspects of family conflict and divorce, and its implications for the child. The Institute of Family Mediators sponsors CHILD’s (Children in Legal Disputes), a non-profit support group for children and parents experiencing family disputes and divorce. Services We Offer
Courses and Workshops:
Training and Workshops provided to professionals, parents and children with respect to mediation, divorce, parental rights and responsibilities, parenting plans, children’s rights, alienation and estrangement, case management, supervision, single parenting, step parenting, post divorce parenting, reconstructed families and role of extended families. Family Mediation Services:
These are services offered to families experiencing any nature of family disputes, and/or considering a divorce, in the process of a divorce, or dealing with post divorce matters. In addition, to accredited mediators and attorneys, we offer professional supervision. Children’s Concerns:
Information on children’s rights, assessment of children’s maturity in decision-making according to the Children’s Act, and assessment for self determination. CHILDS (Children In Legal Disputes):
