At Solar & Storage Live Cape Town, Solareff CCO and SAPVIA Chairperson DeVilliers Botha sat down with Western Cape Premier Alan Winde for the keynote interview, "Enabling Energy Freedom in the Western Cape."

A key takeaway was that the Western Cape remains on track to deliver 5,700MW of new generation capacity by 2035, with ambitions to eventually export electricity beyond the Province's borders.

The conversation also reinforced that energy freedom is not about going off-grid. Instead, it is about creating an integrated energy system that delivers reliable, cost-effective power while using the grid to distribute surplus energy to where it is needed most.
