🧼 The Science of the Scrub: World Hand Hygiene Day: 5 May 🧼
We all know we should wash our hands, but have you ever wondered why soap is so much more than just a good smell? It is actually a molecular "demolition crew" for viruses!

How it Works: The Chemistry of the Kill 🧪
Many viruses (like the ones that cause the common cold or flu) are encased in a lipid bilayer – a protective outer shell made of fats.

Soap molecules are amphiphilic, meaning they have:
• A hydrophilic head (which loves water).
• A lipophilic tail (which loves fats/lipids).

When you lather up, those fat-loving tails wedge themselves into the virus's fatty protective layer and pry it apart. Think of it like popping a balloon with a pin – once the lipid bilayer is breached, the virus literally falls apart and becomes inactive. The water then flushes the remains away!

The 20-Second Rule ⏱️
It takes about 20 seconds for this chemical reaction to fully disassemble the virus structure. That’s why a quick rinse isn't enough – you need to give the chemistry time to work its magic!

Bringing Science to Life 🔬
At Doc Scientia, we believe that understanding the "why" behind the "how" makes science unforgettable. Whether you're studying intermolecular forces in Physical Sciences or cell structures in Life Sciences, the proof is in the bubbles!

Keep those hands clean and those minds curious. 🧼✨
