We are thrilled to announce the appointment of Mr Barend Smit as the founding Principal of Aljay High School,opening its doors to learners in January 2027.

Mr Smit is a highly respected educational leader with over 36 years of experience in education,including more than 15 years as a school Principal.He is known for his dynamic,approachable leadership style and his specific commitment to discipline and academic excellence,staff development and the holistic growth of every learner.Mr Smit has a proven track record of guiding schools to outstanding academic results,fostering a positive and disciplined school culture and successfully leading new school initiatives.

•Master of Education (Education Management) - North West University
•Bachelor of Education (Educational Mnagement) - Potchefstroom University
•Higher Education Diploma(Senior Primary Education)-University of Pretoria
•Registered with the South African Council for Educators(SACE)
•Extensive professional development in school leadership,financial management,and diversity management.

Mr Smit's experience includes sports coaching and school administration.
