This Pride Month, we remember why we stood together during our GBVF demonstration at Let's Get Together Pride Month Celebration.

For le***an women, bisexual people, gender non-conforming people and transgender women, especially in our villages, townships and small towns, violence, discrimination and the fear of simply existing remain painful realities.🏳️‍⚧️🏳️‍🌈

Too many of our stories go unheard. Too many cases go undocumented. Too many of us are expected to remain silent just to survive.

Our demonstration was more than a moment of solidarity. It was a collective demand for safety, dignity, justice and the right to exist without fear.🏳️‍⚧️🏳️‍🌈

At Colour Me Foundation, we believe that q***r joy and advocacy must coexist. We cannot celebrate freedom while members of our community are still fighting to live safely.

This is our home too. Our bodies matter. Our identities matter. OUR LIVES MATTER!💜💜

YOU SHOULDN'T HAVE TO LOSE YOURSELF TO BELONG! 💜🏳️‍⚧️🏳️‍🌈

Imagine growing up in a community you love, yet feeling like you have to hide parts of yourself just to be accepted.

For many LGBTQIA+ people in our villages, townships and small towns, this is an everyday reality. The fear of rejection, discrimination and isolation can take a silent toll on mental health.

Belonging should never come at the expense of your peace.💜💜

This Mental Health Awareness Month, we're reminding our communities that acceptance, compassion and safe spaces are not privileges. They are essential to our wellbeing.

You deserve to be yourself, to feel safe and to belong. Right where you come from.🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️

COMING OUT IS NOT A PHASE. IT'S THE FREEDOM TO FINALLY BE YOU!❤️🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️

In our villages, townships and small towns, many q***r people grow up learning to hide before they ever get the chance to discover who they are.

For some, coming out means freedom. For others, it means risking family, community, belonging and even safety.

Being q***r is not a phase, a rebellion or something that needs to be corrected. Our identities are not up for negotiation, and nobody should be forced to come out before they feel safe and ready.❤️🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️

This National Coming Out Day, we celebrate those who have found their voices, embrace those still finding their courage, and remind those living quietly that you are no less valid because the world doesn't know your truth yet.

You shouldn't have to leave the place you call home to live freely and authentically.

At Let’s Get Together Pride Month Celebration, Old School met New School in a beautiful reminder that q***r people have always been part of the villages and small towns we call home.🤍🖤

We are reclaiming spaces where many of us were taught to shrink, hide or apologise for who we are. Today, we choose to show up, take up space and celebrate ourselves unapologetically.

From our villages to the world, we are putting the North West Province on the Pride map! 🌍🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️

Pride Month Celebration, Let's Get Together our community witnessed something beautiful. A community reminding one another that no matter where we come from, our stories matter and our existence deserves celebration.🏳️‍⚧️🏳️‍🌈

For q***r people in rural areas and small towns, you deserve to experience Pride where you call home. You deserve safety, love, visibility and the freedom to simply BE.

Old School paved the way. New School carries the story forward. And together, we are creating a future where nobody has to hide to belong.🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️

There is something so beautiful about a community that continues to choose each other. A community that shows up, embraces one another, celebrates loudly and reminds us that belonging is not a privilege, but a right.

On 3 October, Mahikeng became a space where OLD SCHOOL MET NEW SCHOOL! Across generations and experiences, we gathered in community to honour our journeys, celebrate our identities and embrace the joy of being fully ourselves.✊🏾🏳️‍⚧️🏳️‍🌈

On 3 October, Mahikeng came alive as OLD SCHOOL met NEW SCHOOL! Different generations, different journeys, but one community united by pride, resilience and belonging.🎬❤️

For LGBTQIA+ people in rural areas, townships and small towns, gathering freely is more than a celebration. It is visibility. It is resistance. It is reclaiming spaces where we have every right to exist.

TO EVERY LE***AN WOMAN WHO HAS EVER BEEN MADE TO FEEL THAT HER LOVE IS WRONG — YOU BELONG, YOU MATTER, AND YOU DESERVE TO LIVE! 🧡🤍🩷

Today, on International Le***an Day, we celebrate le***an women across the world. Their love, their courage, their identities and their right to exist freely, without fear or apology.🏳️‍⚧️🏳️‍🌈✊🏾

The le***an pride flag carries a beautiful message:

Orange represents independence, community and the strength of le***an identity.🧡

White represents the unique relationships le***ans have with womanhood, including diverse gender experiences.🤍

Pink represents love, femininity, peace and connection.🩷

But for us at this day must mean more than celebration.

We think of the le***an woman in a rural village who hides her relationship for safety. The young girl in a township who is afraid to come out. The woman in a small town who has been threatened, rejected or violated simply because of whom she loves.💜🥹💜

In South Africa, where le***an women continue to face gender-based violence, hate crimes and discrimination, visibility without safety is not enough.

We honour those who have survived. We remember those whose lives were taken by hatred. And we stand beside those who are still finding the courage to live their truth.

Your love is not a crime. Your identity is not a threat. Your existence is not up for debate.

YOU DESERVE MORE THAN SURVIVAL. YOU DESERVE JOY, SAFETY, OPPORTUNITY AND A FUTURE.🩷🤍🧡
