At Enlit Africa 2026, Krutham’s research manager for infrastructure and the just energy transition, Matthew le Cordeur, moderated a panel discussion on securing capital across the full energy value chain.

The discussion brought together Robbie Louw, director of Promethium Carbon; Dipak Patel, senior advisor: climate finance and innovation at the Presidential Climate Commission; Florent Eveille, project manager at GIZ; Brian Tahinduka, head: energy sector, Africa regions at Standard Bank; and Rajen Naidoo, general manager: finance at Eskom.

The panel examined financing requirements across generation, transmission and distribution. It also explored the role of results-based finance and carbon markets in supporting infrastructure investment and grid expansion.

As Africa's energy sector continues to evolve, access to capital remains one of the central questions shaping project delivery, infrastructure development and long-term energy sector development.

These are some of the same financing and infrastructure challenges that Krutham engages with clients on across energy, infrastructure and the just energy transition.

Connect with Matthew le Cordeur to discuss Krutham’s work on infrastructure finance, electricity reform and the just energy transition.

A pension fund with a 45% offshore allowance that cannot find sufficient domestic opportunities at acceptable risk-adjusted returns is not being liberated by that allowance – it is being relieved of the fiction that a lower limit was doing useful work, writes Stuart Theobald in this week’s Business Day column.
