6 Month Project Opportunity - Senior Consultant: Municipal Financial Management and Stakeholder Engagement

We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Consultant to support multiple local government projects across South Africa for a minimum of 6 months. Based on fit, this role could become a full-time position.
*PURPOSE AND OBJECTIVE*
The successful applicant will be required to lead and manage multi-disciplinary teams to deliver on project deliverables and will be directly involved in growing and enhancing the company brand.
The role demands a seasoned professional capable of independently managing complex responsibilities, and the ability to work autonomously to deliver results under tight deadlines, specifically:
Stakeholder Engagement: Build and maintain relationships with municipal stakeholders, facilitating effective communication and collaboration.
Municipal Financial Management: Demonstrate deep understanding of municipal financial systems or possess strong financial expertise to ask critical questions, identify issues, and provide actionable insights.
Report Preparation & Review: Lead the development, review, and refinement of high-quality reports, ensuring accuracy and alignment with project objectives.
*KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:*
• New Business Development & Marketing;
• Project delivery & support;
• Compilation of the Fixed Asset Register (In-house & Clients);
• Junior staff Management & Development;
• Client Liaison;
• Finance Management, Accounting & Reporting;
• Municipal Asset & Liability Management;
• GRAP Implementation & Preparation of AFS;
• mSCOA Implementation & Management;
• General MFMA Implementation & Compliance;
• PFMA Implementation & Compliance;
• Preparations of reports & presentations;
• Make use of systems & applications, as needed;
• Analyse and provide input on improving systems;
• Support the development team with specification & scoping documents to facilitate software & system development;
• Assisting with bid preparations of project opportunities; and
• Any other related duties.
*SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES:*
• Proficiency in MS Office - Excel, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Teams;
• Excellent command of the English language (verbal and written);
• Excellent time management, prioritisation and communication skills;
• Be accurate, systematic and display attention to detail;
• Take initiative and have problem-solving skills;
• Work well in teams and under limited supervision; and
• Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines without compromising quality.
*QUALIFICATIONS:*
• Min three (3) year tertiary qualification (NQF Level 7) in Financial Accounting, Cost and Management Accounting or Public Finance;
• Min three (3) years in the Public Sector with a specific focus on finance including: PFMA; MFMA; mSCOA; and GRAP;
• SAICA training programme (articles) experience will be an added advantage.
