The IDC continued its stakeholder engagements in Gauteng, bringing together organised business, entrepreneurs and industry leaders for a robust discussion on development finance, opportunities for business growth and areas for process refinement.

The engagement featured a panel discussion with IDC Divisional Executive Mark Goliath, BBC Vice President of Organised Business Greg Mofokeng, SACCI President Adv. Mtho Xulu, and IDC Gauteng Regional Manager Naomi Mtshali, who shared insights on the opportunities and challenges facing businesses, as well as the role of development finance in supporting the sustainable growth of the economy.

These engagements form part of the corporation’s ongoing efforts to strengthen stakeholder relationships, foster collaboration and advance inclusive economic growth across South Africa.

As the engagement series continues, the IDC will host its next stakeholder session in the North West on Monday. Entrepreneurs and business leaders interested in participating are encouraged to register here: https://hellocrowd.events/R294Y/DYJNH/general?m=t

This week, Our CEO, Mmakgoshi Lekhethe, visited the Western Cape region, where she participated in the opening of the IDC’s new regional offices and engaged with key stakeholders across the province.

As part of the visit, she met with several IDC-funded clients, including Sheraton, Garner Wafers and tapestry, the manufacturers for Coricraft furniture, gaining firsthand insight into their operations, growth opportunities, and the challenges facing businesses in the region. She also held engagements with RMB to strengthen strategic partnerships and explore opportunities for collaboration in support of economic development.

These engagements underscore the IDC’s ongoing commitment to supporting businesses, fostering meaningful partnerships, and driving inclusive industrialisation, investment, and job creation across South Africa.

IDC Western Cape Regional Stakeholder Engagement | Western Cape

The IDC created a platform for direct dialogue with organised business, entrepreneurs and partners to strengthen understanding, foster collaboration, and unlock opportunities for investment, industrialisation and inclusive economic growth.

Our CEO, Mmakgoshi Lekhethe, highlighted the importance of ongoing engagement between institutions and the business community, noting: “Strengthening development finance outcomes requires ongoing dialogue between the institution and the business community it serves.”

These engagements are important in building stronger relationships between the IDC and the business community — creating space to unpack how development finance works, address opportunities and challenges, and advance practical partnerships that drive sustainable impact.

The IDC participated in the Diplomatic Corps Opening of the Financial Markets at the JSE on 27 May 2026, a key platform bringing together leaders from diplomacy, finance, and business to advance Africa’s economic agenda.

Held in celebration of Africa Day, the engagement underscored a shared direction: Africa’s growth is partnership-driven, built on aligned institutions, coordinated investment, and a shift from vision to real ex*****on.

For the IDC, it was an opportunity to reinforce our role in driving industrialisation, regional integration, and large-scale investment—working with partners to unlock inclusive growth across the continent.

For 85 years, the IDC has backed the doers — youth-owned businesses, women building economies, black industrialists, and innovators turning possibility into progress.

Unlocking potential. Backing growth. Showing up where it matters.

We back Africa, because we are Africa.

World Hydrogen Summit 2026 | Rotterdam — South Africa Delivered.

The IDC proudly supported South Africa’s participation at the World Hydrogen Summit & Exhibition 2026 in Rotterdam, one of the leading global platforms for hydrogen dialogue, investment and collaboration. Led by Minister of Trade, Industry and Competition, Parks Tau, alongside key government and industry stakeholders, the South African delegation maintained a strong presence across major summit engagements.

Over three days, the programme focused on strengthening South Africa’s position in the global green hydrogen economy through strategic engagements, high-level discussions with investors, industry leaders and international partners, as well as participation in ministerial and CEO forums. The Summit also created opportunities for project developers, commercial partnerships and bilateral engagements supporting future investment and collaboration.

Supporting this effort was the JET Implementation Plan Programme Management Office (JET-IP PMO), housed at the IDC, through the Green Hydrogen (GH2) Portfolio team. Green hydrogen remains one of South Africa’s most significant industrial opportunities, and the IDC remains committed to supporting the conditions needed to move the sector from ambition to investment.

For 85 years, the IDC has backed builders, strengthened industries and supported sustainable economic growth across Africa.

Together with our partners, we continue to invest in progress, opportunity and the sectors that power development and create lasting impact.

This Africa Day, we celebrate the people, partnerships, and industries that are helping to shape the future of our continent.
