It’s been such a meaningful journey for Free To Grow rolling out the Women's Empowerment Programme in partnership with RCL FOODS. This essential learning is targeted specifically at high-potential women and those starting their leadership journey across the organisation.

Currently, the team at RCL Sugar at the Malelane Mill is participating in a series of high-impact sessions facilitated by Free to Grow's Nontabiso Mthembu. The structure is designed around operational demands, ensuring critical skill development occurs via short sessions that minimize time away from shifts or core duties.

Over the past 3 years we have had the privilege of partnering with the VKB Group to bring their employees on board, inspire them to be their best and bring their best to work every day, living the company's values.

We are now nearing the end of our 2025 WorkQ implementation for GWK employees, having presented 52 groups throught the Northern Cape, from Douglas to Christiana, Barkely-West to Magogang, Jan Kempdorp to Kimberley, Modderriver to Hopetown, and Luckoff to Prieska and Upington.

What an opportunity this has been to touch lives and deeply impact not only how these employees show up at work, but also how they see themselves and what is possible for them.

We hear stories about people going home with a new perspective on what being a parent and a partner is about, people having strengthened the connection with their colleagues, and people going back into the workplace with new hope and enthusiasm, understanding where the organisation is going and what part they play.

Thank you VKB Group and GWK for trusting us to walk this journey with you.

And thank you to our two facilitators, Efraim Oppelt and Kagisho Malatji who spent more than 100 days away from home in order to reach these employees where they are. Your passion for your work and for people are inspiring.

It was an honour to play a “small” part in delivering on this well-orchestrated national undertaking as a Facilitator surrounded by an amazing 𝐉𝐮𝐦𝐛𝐨 and Free To Grow team.

To 𝐧𝐨𝐰 𝐦𝐚𝐫𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐢𝐫 𝟓𝟎𝐭𝐡 𝐲𝐞𝐚𝐫 𝐚𝐧𝐧𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐚𝐫𝐲 in business in 2025, 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝟏𝟒𝟎 𝐬𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐞𝐬 𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐰𝐢𝐝𝐞, they have indeed clung on to their purpose with vigour and have served it diligently.

This month we continue our culture journeys with several organisations- Sea Harvest Group Ltd (Saldanha), Digistics (Pty) Ltd, GWK and Prima Tyres.

All of these are implementing Free To Grow's WorkQ programme on a large scale, aimed at getting their people more fully on board:
🔹 Building the psychological capital that forms the foundation for engagement
🔹 Strengthening the emotional connection they have with the organisation (the 'care why)

They all share the same objective: To bring more purpose and meaning to work, and inspire peak performance in their people.

Our Facilitator, Candice Hankey, shared her experience of the joy of holding space for the Curo Fund Services team in our Free To Grow BOUNCE Forward session, where we explored what it really means to manage emotions ❤️ and build resilience 💪.

She commented: What struck me most was how much courage it takes to pause long enough to notice what’s going on inside, before life pushes us to simply react. That moment of self-awareness can feel small, but it’s the starting point for resilience and responding (rather than simply "reacting").

I was reminded that resilience isn’t just about getting back up when we fall. It’s about discovering new strength, new ways of being, and sometimes even a new version of ourselves.

There was such openness and willingness in the room today... people leaning into the uncomfortable, asking honest questions, and reflecting deeply. That, for me, is where growth begins 🌱.

I left the session carrying these words with me:

“You cannot discover new oceans unless you have the courage to lose sight of the shore.” – André Gide 🌊

May we each find the courage to be the Columbus of ourselves, charting new waters in our inner world with curiosity, compassion, and bravery.

Thank you Glynis Domingo for opening the door to authentic moments of sharing and learning within your team. You truly have a treasure chest of wonderful People! 💎

Strong front-line leadership is the engine for sales performance and exceptional customer service.

It has been a privilege to partner with Jumbo Clothing, empowering their front-line leaders and Store and Assistant Store Managers through our Free To Grow tailored LeadQ programme, which is designed to move beyond traditional leadership development and have a strategic focus on driving sales performance and enhancing customer experiences in-store.

We have successfully delivered these learning interventions across the country in Queenstown, Cape Town, East London, PE, Mthatha, Free State and Butterworth.

As we conclude the final sessions in Pretoria and Kokstad this week, we want to extend a huge thank you for the trust and partnership of Tanielle Hein, Christiaan Krige, Seaton Guess, Phinda Mputa, and the broader Jumbo leadership team. Your investment is seen and experienced by your people.

Usually, when a new learning programme starts, participants take some time to 'warm up' to each other, the facilitator and the programme itself.

Not in Free To Grow's programmes.

Every single participant of the second WorkQ programme for Digistics (Pty) Ltd shopfloor employees and supervisors at Cape Town, actively engaged in the activities. No folded arms. No frowns. No leaning back and passively observing. Everyone leaning in, fully engaged from the first minute. Ready for the Free To Grow magic to happen.

Ready for their hearts to be touched, eyes to be opened, and attitudes to be shifted to bring out the best in each of them.

This week has been full of milestones, marking the completion of our 17th WorkQ programme at the Midrand DC with Digistics (Pty) Ltd. We've been a proud partner on their culture journey, and it's rewarding to see the progress.

We also launched the program in Cape Town with a very enthusiastic group. Their willingness to lean in and explore the link between their personal journeys and Digistics' future was inspiring. It was clear from the start that they were fully utilizing this opportunity for growth.

The response was genuinely positive, with the group giving WorkQ a huge thumbs up. I watched several video clips of employees sharing the big impact these two days had on them. The following was repeated again and again:
1️⃣ feeling a renewed sense of purpose
2️⃣ experiencing greater pride in the work they do
3️⃣ feeling a deeper connection to the organisation they are part of, and
4️⃣ being inspired to step up and contribute more fully.

A powerful reminder of how meaningful these two-day journeys can be positively impacting both employees and the organisation.

Thank you, Renier Du Preez, for inviting us to be a part of this. It remains a huge privilege.
