This year marks the 46th anniversary of the 16 June 1976 student uprising in Soweto, when young people protested against imposition of Afrikaans by the apartheid regime as a medium of instruction. After 1994, the government declared 16 June as National Youth Day and June as Youth Month.
As outlined in the theme "Promoting sustainable livelihoods and resilience of young people for a better tomorrow", the call to action will be for youth to forge resilience and pursue opportunities for a sustainable livelihood, today and in the future. (https://www.gov.za/YouthDay2022).
At ELI, projects are specifically designed to include the youth and give them the opportunity to create sustainable livelihoods in the agricultural sector ๐๐๐๐ฅฆ๐ฅ๐ฑ๐ป๐๐
