My general experience with stakeholders for the knitting event

Winter is the season of loving, giving warmth and dipping temperatures, we decided to host this event during this season because everyone needs a little bit of warmth in their lives and, we as Soweto Home for The Aged decided to give our people just that. We decided to do the Knitting event initially to raise money but we also believed that we can generate a lot of goodwill with an event like this and we are very grateful to our donors who donated a lot of wool and knitting needles for our seniors to knit. Knitting is very common in old age homes and very therapeutic for them as well because they can get very lonely and homesick at times but knitting distresses them and gives them a sense of accomplishment. We are also very grateful to the community for showing up and giving us support, seeing new and fresh faces really showed the elderly love and gave them the reason to keep going.

Not forgetting the caregivers and healthcare professionals who are always on standby for our seniors because we are aware of the underlying issues our old people have and knitting gives them something else to think about besides their health issues or what is on television, we are thankful to them for always being available when we need them. We managed to knit and sell more than 50 jerseys on that day, 200 beanies, 100 socks, 150 scarves and 200 gloves; this was a great achievement for us and way beyond our expectations. We believe that the people of Soweto really came through for us as Soweto Home for the Aged and showed us support. We would also like to thank everyone who donated food and drinks particularly for this event; we were not expecting anything of such.

To the families of our seniors please continue supporting them and showing them love and support at all times. We believe that this event was of good cause because it brought families together and it was also a great way to keep the seniors active and relaxed, which provides long-term health benefits such as preventing heart disease and stroke.
