We’re teaming up with KP Labs to explore how Dragonfly Aerospace’s optical payloads can work alongside the Leopard Data Processing Unit (DPU). 🛰️

The idea is simple: combine high-quality Earth observation imagery with onboard AI processing to enable more data to be analysed in orbit before it ever reaches the ground. 🌍⚡

The MoU was signed at the Small Satellite Conference, and we’re looking forward to exploring what our technologies can do together.

This week, a used SpaceX Falcon 9 upper stage unexpectedly crashed into the Moon. It reminded us of another, much more intentional space collision: NASA’s DART mission. 🎯💥

In 2022, DART crashed into Dimorphos on purpose to see if hitting an asteroid could change its path.

For the mission, Dragonfly Aerospace's Gecko imager, nicknamed “Luke,” rode on the LICIACube and took pictures of the scene after it passed Dimorphos. 📷

Two impacts — but only one was part of the mission plan. 🌌

🚀 Exciting news from space!

On 7 July, the CloudCT precursor mission successfully launched aboard a SpaceX Falcon 9 as part of the Transporter-17 rideshare mission. Even better, contact with the satellite was established within hours, marking an exciting milestone for the mission. 🛰️

We're proud that Dragonfly Aerospace contributed 12 custom Gecko Polarised Imagers to this pioneering project. The mission is exploring a new way of studying clouds from space, helping scientists gain deeper insights that could improve future climate and weather prediction. ☁️🌍

A huge congratulations to Zentrum für Telematik e.V. (ZfT) and the entire CloudCT consortium on this incredible achievement. It's inspiring to see years of collaboration and innovation come together in orbit, and we're honoured to have played a part.

From the Cederberg to the International Space Station.🇿🇦→🛰️

Rooibos is set to become the first indigenous South African plant, and the first from Africa, to travel to space as part of a pioneering STEM and research initiative. 🌱

Dragonfly Aerospace attended the launch event for "Rooibos in Space," where we learned that the the mission is more than just a trip to space.
The project aims to study how Rooibos responds to space conditions and environmental stresses like space radiation and microgravity. The results will determine whether Rooibos could contribute to sustainable food production beyond Earth.🌍

Key mission details:
• Launch: Scheduled for October 2026.
• Destination: The International Space Station (ISS).
• Duration: The seeds will remain in orbit for a minimum of six weeks.
• Return: The seeds are expected to return to Earth between December 2026 and January 2027.

This ambitious project is facilitated by the SOUTH AFRICAN ROOIBOS COUNCIL (SARC), in partnership with MaxIQ.Space and supported by the South African National Space Agency (SANSA).

Did you know that special cameras can see things ordinary cameras can't?

The latest issue of *Photonics Spectra* takes a closer look at how Shortwave Infrared (SWIR) imaging is helping shape the future of space.

As more satellites launch each year, the need for smarter imaging technology grows. Dragonfly Aerospace is proud to develop commercial-off-the-shelf SWIR sensors that detect atmospheric methane and spot "dark" space debris hard to see with conventional cameras.

Our Francois Mostert shares how interest in using Dragonfly's SWIR technology beyond Earth observation—including Space Domain Awareness—is growing rapidly.
