Ziwani A community of business leaders that partner together to live out their marketplace callings.

Rev. Canon Dr Dennis Tongoi spent 160 days a year traveling, leading leaders across continents, and climbing to the top of his field. Then, as he neared retirement, he realised most of his relationships were transactional.

In this 'Story of Transformation', Dr Dennis recalls when key relationships went to a deeper level for the first time, in some cases with people he had known for decades. "I was really shocked. People I had been with for almost 50 years... I did not know them."

From that room grew a deep commitment to finish well together and help each other thrive rather than merely survive. A group where you aren't judged or fixed and where "it is not what you do, it's who you are."

Whether you’re a student looking ahead to your future, a pastor leading a congregation, or a professional navigating the marketplace, understanding God's design for work is relevant to anyone.

Earlier this month, a diverse groups of people from all walks of life gathered in Accra to explore how faith practically informs our daily work, even across different callings. One participant said of the experience, "I see my job differently now, as an opportunity for growth, service and honesty… I didn’t feel same way before joining today. Now I understand better that my work is also a form of worship to God and not only a means to earning income."

'Foundations for Redemptive Work' bridges the gap between Sunday faith and Monday reality. Check out how you can join the next 'Foundations' and discover how your work fits into God's purpose: https://ziwani.com/courses/foundations-for-redemptive-work?courseName=Foundations -for-event?utm_campaign=foundations&utm_medium=social&utm_source=facebook&utm_content=accra

For the finale of the 'Risk' podcast, the four hosts who guided us through the series got together to reflect on the moments that reframed their own understanding, share the biggest takeaways, and consider what it means to take meaningful risks with God while remaining grounded in good business practice.

Doreen, the host of our East Africa mini-series, made an interesting observation about a key component of managing risk - the gift of discernment. She asserts that discernment is essential for making good decisions in business. This gives Christians, who walk with the Holy Spirit and can ask God for wisdom, an incredible advantage that lends itself to marketplace leadership and influence.

As leaders, we are natural problem-solvers. Our role is usually to find solutions and fix things, quickly. But in Counsel groups, we shift from just firing opinions to slowing down and making space for reflection. Rather than offering advice, members are encouraged to share personal experiences, scriptural insights, and ask thoughtful questions. No prescriptive answers, but conversations grounded in empathy, understanding, and God’s Word, allowing us to genuinely reflect and discern God’s leading for ourselves.

Habari! Kwa mara ya kwanza, tunakuletea habari njema katika lugha ya Kiswahili!

We are thrilled to expand the message of work as worship to a wider audience by offering more resources in the languages spoken on the continent. We have launched our first Bible Plan in Swahili: Kazi K**a Ibada: Imani Kazini na Kwenye Biashara (Work as Worship: Faith at Work and in Business)!

"A tipping point happens when the center of gravity shifts: the workplace is no longer a side conversation, but a strategic mission priority."

Our team was uplifted and inspired at the Lausanne Workplace Forum for Africa and the Middle East in Accra last week. We saw the affirmation of our vision and mission and Maria shared that it was "encouraging to see how Ziwani's work is contributing to the wider missions movement in Africa."

We also always love time together in-person, exploring another part of the continent together!

"It was as if they were reading my mind and pushing me to think of solutions to the issues I often complain about."

For DianaAbasi Okop, 'Foundations for Redemptive Work' moved her beyond just identifying what is broken in her industry, to actively discovering how God is calling her to bring restoration. Now she's asking the Lord what His original design and redemptive purpose is for the legal profession.

Join a pan-African group of professionals for a journey of connecting with our callings in the marketplace and uncovering God’s purpose for your work in 'Foundations for Redemptive Work' on August 17, 19, and 24.
