Rules for the Attorney’s Profession
Previously, the four statutory provincial law societies had four disparate sets of rules that applied to practitioners in their respective jurisdictions. These rules were repealed and replaced with a new uniform set of rules (Rules for the Attorney’s Profession) that will apply to all attorneys on a national basis, irrespective of where in the country they may be practicing. The new rules will affect assurance engagements for year ends ending February 2017 and onwards, with the exception of a law firm which commenced practice for the first time after 1 March 2016.
