It was 30 years back – a generation ago – that the brand which has become

synonymous with Pinotage was ‘born’ when the first vineyard was planted at the small home farm off the Koelenhof road, bought in 1988. Following the 1997 acquisition of 100 hectares in the Bottelary Winelands of Stellenbosch, the landholding increased again in 2018 with the purchase of a 50ha spread of vineyards known as Kriekbult between the winery and the Simonsberg as viewed from the deck of the bistro at Beyerskloof. Marvelling at growth and development during the 30 years since Beyers thrust his hands into the soil and planted the first vines on home soil, it’s exciting to contemplate what the next 30 years might hold as Anri and the Beyerskloof family push the envelope viticulturally and in the cellar. Might there even be one more expression of Pinotage in the making?

This International Pinotage Day, we’re celebrating 30 vintages of Beyerskloof Pinotage with a day dedicated to the colours, character and spirit of the vineyard.

Join us on 10 October 2026 for Shades of the Vineyard, where style meets terroir and your outfit becomes part of the celebration. Think daytime elegance, relaxed garden chic and, of course, a little Pinotage flair. 🍷

Caroline’s 2026 edition of her annual Red Wine Review, hailed as one of the most prestigious tasting events on the South African wine calendar, will be staged on Thursday, 30 July (17h00 until 21h00) in the Members’ Lounge on the 4th Floor of the DHL Stadium, Fritz Sonnenberg Road in Green Point, Cape Town.

Hosted by Caroline Rillema of the legendary Caroline’s Fine Wine Cellar, this world-class red wine showcase, now in its 38th year, gives wine enthusiasts the rare opportunity to experience an unparalleled line-up of the Cape’s flagship red wines all under one roof.
