Just a friendly REMINDER: FruitLook is entering a new chapter.

For the past 14 years, FruitLook has supported growers across the Western Cape with satellite-based insights to guide irrigation and farm management decisions. During this time, Blue North Sustainability has served as the implementation partner in South Africa, supporting users with onboarding, training and technical assistance.

Blue North’s contract as implementation partner will come to an end on 31 March 2026, and we would like to thank the team for the important role they have played in supporting the FruitLook community over the years.

At the same time, the Western Cape Department of Agriculture’s funding for FruitLook will also conclude on 31 March 2026. In order for the platform to continue operating, FruitLook will transition to a subscription-based model from 1 April 2026, subject to sufficient user interest.

We were honoured to be once again invited to present FruitLook training at the Prophyta Short Course.

The course equips participants with knowledge in tree growth and development, irrigation management, nutrition, and soil health. Our FruitLook training demonstrated how remotely sensed data can be used to:
- Monitor orchard growth and water use
- Identify spatial variation within orchards
- Compare and evaluate management practices

As always, the students and young farmers were engaging and enthusiastic. It’s a highlight for us to spend this time with them in Grabouw each year.
