⚡ Africa's First 100% Electric Truck DC Fleet: Zimi x Clicks Group.

By the end of October 2026, the Clicks Group’s Montague Gardens distribution centre in Cape Town is set to become the first retail distribution centre in Africa to operate a 100% electric truck fleet. The transition to zero-emission commercial logistics requires an end-to-end operational framework.

As Zimi CEO and Co-founder Michael Maas outlines during the official rollout event, scaling electric heavy freight relies on integrating high-power charging infrastructure directly into existing distribution hub workflows.Through our deployment partnership, Zimi is supporting Clicks' rollout of 30 new-generation SANY heavy-duty electric trucks across Cape Town and Centurion hubs. By pairing high-power DC fast chargers with on-site solar microgrids, trucks replenish their battery capacity while offloading cargo at the bay, eliminating operational downtime and ensuring an always-on distribution model.

Key Deployment Highlights:

Fleet Integration: Introducing 30 SANY heavy-duty electric trucks across key national distribution nodes.

Bay-Side Rapid DC Charging: High-power infrastructure integrated directly with site solar microgrids for seamless, zero-downtime charging during cargo offloading.

Proprietary Software Oversight: Real-time telemetry tracking via our platform, providing Clicks and its 3PL partners with complete control over vehicle performance, energy consumption, and charger uptime.

Targeted Environmental Impact: The initial 30-truck rollout is projected to save approximately 780,000 litres of diesel and avoid ~2,000 tonnes of tailpipe CO2 emissions annually.
