๐—”๐˜‚๐˜๐—ผ๐—ฐ๐—น๐—ฎ๐˜ƒ๐—ฒ ๐˜๐—ฎ๐—ฝ๐—ฒ is an adhesive tape, that has diagonal lines embedded and is used in autoclaving to indicate whether a specific temperature has been reached. ๐—”๐˜‚๐˜๐—ผ๐—ฐ๐—น๐—ฎ๐˜ƒ๐—ฒ ๐˜๐—ฎ๐—ฝ๐—ฒ works by changing colour after exposure to temperatures commonly used in the sterilisation processes, typically 121ยฐC in a steam autoclave.

๐—”๐˜‚๐˜๐—ผ๐—ฐ๐—น๐—ฎ๐˜ƒ๐—ฒ ๐˜๐—ฎ๐—ฝ๐—ฒ can be used if you do not have a Pressure Gauge on your pressure cooker, to help you with a visual test to determine whether sterilisation has taken place. It is a best practice to use ๐—”๐˜‚๐˜๐—ผ๐—ฐ๐—น๐—ฎ๐˜ƒ๐—ฒ ๐˜๐—ฎ๐—ฝ๐—ฒ in addition to having a Pressure Gauge. If the tape has not changed to black well-defined lines after autoclaving, the ๐˜€๐—ผ๐—ฟ๐—ด๐—ต๐˜‚๐—บ ๐—ด๐—ฟ๐—ฎ๐—ถ๐—ป is not sterile.

Here is a guideline that will assist you with understanding the colour change in indicator tape, post autoclaving:
