To everyone who stood together yesterday
Yesterday we showed what happens when a community and a neighbourhood watch work as one.
For a long time, a known thief has been targeting our streets – taking shoes off stoeps, towels off washing lines, anything left lying around homes. We were tired. We were frustrated.
But yesterday, that changed. Thanks to your quick action, clear communication and teamwork, we caught her with a pair of very expensive walking shoes that didn’t belong to her.
To every neighbourhood watch member, every neighbour who phoned, who came out, who helped hold her until SAPS arrived: Thank you, You proved that *the neighbourhood watch works
Two things we must never forget:
1. Crime doesn’t pay. You might get away with it a few times, but the day of reckoning always comes. Yesterday was that day.
2. Always lay a charge. If we don’t open cases, SAPS can’t act. A case number is the only way to prove patterns and stop her from stealing from someone else tomorrow.
This success isn’t just about one pair of shoes. It’s about our message to every criminal: *Swellendam is watching. Swellendam cares. Swellendam stands together.*
Again, thank you for your courage, your time, and your care. Let’s keep the neighbourhood watch strong. Keep reporting. Keep watching. Keep standing together.
The neighbourhood watch works – because YOU work.
