YOUNG TALENT TAKES CENTRE STAGE AT JERRY SIKHOSANA JUNIOR’S WINTER TOURNAMENT

The Jerry Sikhosana Junior’s Winter Tournament is set to bring together young sporting talent as part of an initiative aimed at promoting sports development, youth empowerment and community upliftment.

Founded in 2012 by soccer legend Jerry Sikhosana, the annual tournament continues to create opportunities for young athletes to showcase their abilities, develop their skills and grow through sport.

The tournament caters for players between the ages of 11 and 15 years old, with soccer and netball divisions. This year’s edition has also introduced ladies’ soccer, expanding participation opportunities for young female athletes.

The tournament will take place from 29 June to 19 July 2026. Soccer fixtures will be hosted at Ecaleni Sports Ground, while netball matches will be played at Mehlareng Netball Courts on 17 and 19 July.

The soccer division will feature a Top 32 competition, with teams already drawn following the official tournament draw held on Saturday.

Participants will compete for prizes including soccer kits, trophies, medals and sports equipment.

The netball and ladies’ soccer divisions will feature a Top 8 format, with registrations still open for interested teams.

Organisers say the tournament remains committed to using sport as a vehicle for youth development, discipline, teamwork and positive community engagement.
